Saturday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C., Gareis hurled a perfect game in USC's 12-0 game two win against UNC-Charlotte. She joined former Gamecocks Dariene Loweiy and Charlene Manley in the record books. USC swept the doubleheader by taking game one 11-0. Gareis, a junior from Pennsville, N.J., struck out four in the course of retiring all 18 Lady 49ers she faced. She improved to 28-8 on the season and an impressive 74-28 for her USC career.
