In addition to being Easter weekend (no school on Monday), this weekend is host to the Carolina Cup in Camden. Or you might take off for a weekend to the beach, since you do have an extra day to sit in the sand and veg. On a day that starts early and ends late, such as the Cup, it's easy tc lose yourself in the festivities. Drinks flow freely, the sun shines brightly, and you're surrounded by people you probably won't claim after three more beers. (Just kidding about thai last part. They probably won't claim I you.) " But before you take off for a weekend in the sun and suds, take a moment to consider a few points. Alcohol acts as a dehydrant. The sun can wreak havoc with more than your skin. It can affect your stomach if you're not careful. I'm referring to food poisoning. Mayonnaise-based foods such as potato salad or vegetable dip can spoil in the heat of the sun. Finally, you need to remember your sunglasses, not just for comfort in the bright sunlight but to help decrease your risk of cataracts later in life. Mark (Elijah Wood) is living in Maine with his uncle Wallace (Daniel Hugh Kelly) and aunt Susan (Wendy Crewson). He easily makes friends with their children, -Connie (Quinn Culkin) and son Henry (Macaulay Culkin). At the beginning of the movie, Hen ry appears to be an average, active little boy. Later, Henry reveals to Mark more about himself, exposing a dark, cruel side. Henry's childish pranks become serious and dangerous. Though Mark is upset by these antics, Henry isn't affected. Henry's philosophy is "Once you realize you can do anything, you're free ... Nothing can touch you. Nothing." Mark is the only one who sees Henry's cruelty. He realizes that Henry's next target is Connie. Mark tries to warn others in the movie, but no one believes him. Henry takes Connie skating and pushes her onto the breaking ice at the edge of a pond, making her almost drown and freeze. She is res cued, however, but now Mark is more aware of how brutal Henry can be. "The Good Son" becomes more intense when Henry's mom begins to see truth in Mark's words and makes a tough choice at the end of the movie. The film is dynamic and suspenseful. The beginning is a little slow, but the action continually builds until the end.
