Frye Field. The Gamecocks are 1-1
against the Bulldogs this season. Each
team has won at home, and tonight's

The Gamecocks are coming off a
weekend series in which they took
two of three games from the Alabama
Crimson Tide.
"We lost on Friday, but I'm pleased
we bounced back to win on Saturday
and Sunday," Coach June Raines said.
The Gamecocks (23-7, 2-1) finished
the weekend series Sunday with a 32
win. Wally Maynard picked up the
win to improve to 3-0. He pitched 2
1/3 hitless innings, striking out two.
"Our pitching staff has been consistent
this year," Raines said. "I was
glad to see Maynard get the win."
Starting pitcher Scott Pace (7-0)
pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up two
runs on five hits. Craig Ross picked
up his seventh save of the year by
pitching a no-hit ninth.
Offensively, the Gamecocks were
led by leftfielder Mark Gugino and
designated hitter Mike Tarter. Gugino
had two RBIs on one hit and
scored a run. Tarter had two hits and
scored the other two runs.
