Soccer By ROB RODUSKY Sports Editor USC ? The men's soccer team captured its first ever league Metro Conference title with a 3-0 victory against the Virginia Tech Hokies Sunday at The Graveyard. The win guaranteed the Gamecocks a NCAA Tournament bid for the eighth time in the past nine seasons. USC has the most appearances of any South Region squad. Since 1985, the Gamecocks have made the playoffs every year except 1991. USC advanced to the Final Four in 1988. Before 1985, the Gamecock's only other NCAA appearance was in 1979. Carolina, which was ranked No. 16 in the past week's Soccer America poll and fifth in the South Region, has won all eight matches at The Graveyard this year and has a seven-game unbeaten streak (5-02) since a 2-0 defeat to Notre Dame Oct. 1.
