USC ? The NBA and the rest
of the world lost one of their
favorites Wednesday morning
when superstar Michael Jordan
announced his retirement.

he'll be out for a year. I don't
think he'll retire forever. He just
needs a break."
Jordan said he retired because
he had no challenges left and had
accomplished everything he wanted
to individually and teamwise.
Coliseum director John Bolin
echoes the sentiment of people
across the country.
"It's sad," he said. "It's like losing
a movie star in that you won't
be able to see them perform again.
For us, it is a tragedy. It is our
loss."
In Jordan's short but illustrious
career, he amassed three world
championships, 3,935 assists and a

Jill Buehlman, a junior nursing
major, is realistic about Jordan's *
choice.
"It's good that a superstar can
walk away from the game when he
no longer loves the game," she
said.
Some people think now is the
correct time for Jordan to hang up
his Nike's.
. Advertising/public relations
senior Deborah Flemming said, "I
believe that his time has come.
He's done everything he's wanted
to do as far as his career is concerned.
He should just take time
out to pursue other interests."
Manv athletes come and 00
every year, but athletes such as
Michael Jordan pass our way only
once. It was a privilege to watch
Jordan perform his acrobatic
moves, no matter what you think
of him and his game.
