For cross country and track athlete James Page, the typrical morning starts at 6:30 with a strenuous five-mile jog. This is an average morning for all USC cross country and track team members, but James Page is not your average guy. Page, a junior mechanical engineer student, is on active duty with the Navy, from which he receives full pay and allowances to attend USC. "I'm one of the only guys in the country who actively serves in the Navy and competes in NCAA athletics," said Page, who is 28, married and the father of two. cock James has served more than md nine years in the Navy, mostly eak on submarines as a nuclear engineer. He also served at the Charleston Naval Base. Page is a lore firm believer in the experiences the Navy has provided him. The tournament was held at the Ijij: par 72, 6,948-yard Holston Hills Country Club golf course. Fifteen n!;! teams participated. USC's top finisher was Chad Mason, whose three-round total of ;jj 222 was good enough for 25th jij position. Mason finished 10 strokes behind Keith Rick of Florida State, the individual champion.
