A Taneyhill To our freshman quarterback: Don 'ttake Clemson lightly An open letter to USC quarterback Steve Taneyhill: We know you are from Altoona, Pa., and that you don't know the meaning of the Carolina-Clemson rivalry. But the game tomorrow against Clemson is not one to take lightly. You have led the Gamecocks in stunning victories in the second half of the season, and you have just returned from scaring the Florida Gators to death. But the upcoming Clemson game is a rivalry none of which you can imagine. The Gamecocks, under your leadership, hold the ability to give USC their first win against Clemson since 1987, which was in our own territory. You hold the ability to hand Clemson a losing season, their first since the 1970s. The Carolina-Clemson rivalry is one in which each community in this state must deal with. Each will be watching closely to see how you deal with such a hard task. You, Ste've Taneyhill, have told us that you can guarantee a win against Clemson. You also said we would win our last six games, four of which you have helped to deliver. But it is easier said than done. Death Valley in Clemson is a tough place from which to pull a victory. Don't listen to the chants of "Haircut, haircut!" Don't even worry about being an outsider. Pull a win against the Tigers and you will be the most respected man in South Carolina this weekend.
