Cockfest, USC's 22nd annual
Homecoming pep rally, will take
place tonight at 7:30 p.m. at
Williams-Brice Stadium.
The show'will include Coach
Sparky Woods, the introduction of
the senior football players along
with an appearance of the entire
1992 Gamecock football team, the
USC Band, the USC Cheerleaders,
student mascot Cocky, the
Southern Belles, student organization
skits and a fireworks grand
finale.
A new dimension to the program
will be a stepshow by Alpha
Rappa Aipna.
Cockfest will feature eomedian
master of ceremonies Carrot Top.
This very popular college comedian
has appeared on MTV and

"Columbia crowds arc always
killer," Carrot Top said in a recent
interview at The Punchline. "I can
tell that Columbia is a town that
parties a lot and likes to laugh."
I don't tell actual jokes," he
said. "1 like off-the-wall, goofy
things. My routine is more like a
prank show."
The red-haired comedian wears
bright colors that do not really
match and totes a trunk full of gadgets
and gags.
"I've never performed in a stadium
before," he said. "Columbia
crowds are always good for me,
and I want them to have a really
good time."

Phi fraternity.

skits developed around the
Homecoming theme "Sense the
Excitement of Carolina" were
selected by a committee in open
auditions, and these groups have
been practicing for weeks to perfect
their spirited segments of
the program.
