I Every morning they meet at the Koger Center at 7:30
to begin setting up for the day. Future USC parents
and students arrive there at 8 a.m. and the orientation
begins. The "opening session" consists of several
speakers including: Harrison Greenlaw; Student Body
president, Tom Young; and Dennis Pruit of Student

At 10 a.m.,the parents are taken to the Russell
House to talk with academic advisors about the types
of courses available to their children. Meanwhile, the
students are divided up into small groups to discuss
registration, the meal plan, mail and telephone service
fj on a more individual basis with an SOL.
Both parents and children eat lunch from 11:30 a.m.
until 12:30 p.m. and are again separated afterwards.
1 Parents are allowed an informal question and answer
1 time with SOLs until 2 p.m. while the students regisI
1 ter, get immunized, and receive IDs at Pedigru. Pa|
rents and students meet back at the Russell House to

one another until 4:45 p.m. when the orientation ends.
All of the students agreed that the SOLs really
:ock made the orietation easier. "They just need someone
they can identify with," said Susan Biggers, a senior
of SOL.
Junior SOL Conrad Crocker said, "It's just great
