"The ball is rolling on every point of the campaign," Student Body President Tom Young said. "We should have a lot of the 10-point plan in place by the fall." Projects like more cooperation with the business community and Columbia City Council, an allstudent traffic appellate court, student discount cards, and cash card accessible vending machines are in the preliminary stages now, Young said. "We're making tremendous strides with the council," Young said. He recently met with the city council to begin nurturing a better relationship with the city. Young said student government has been actively working with state legislators, making sure USC concerns are heard. Young is on the university's rape task force, which will make recommendations about how to strengthen and improve the university's sexual assault policy. "Hopefully, we will have a much stronger policy in the fall," he said. Student Body Vice President Kelli Lister said the senate has been active this past month, and even though the senate will not be in session, she will be busy preparing for the fall. Lister said she has discussed possible intstitutional and structural changes at the Thomson Student Health Center with the center's officials. "We've talked about separating the money paid into the student activity fund into a separate health fee and a separate fee supporting student organizations," Lister said. "By separating them, we make fore Y< COM v 1 ry\r i * w i ntiv ujj ifearbool iy Que mm jl t I ^Tli ililn 1 Sta j|p| bet bra * Virginia Marshall/The Gamecock immer on many projects, includ- teai City Council, cash-card accessi- has scount cards. sen WOl nment 5 and i miner i It u StU( each of them optional, and stu- stu( dents can pay for the program they ti0n can best afford without foregoing maj both.
