Each sorority or fraternity presented skits or songs in an effort to avoid being "gonged" before the act was complete. The newest event added to the week is the Greek Week Canoe Race. This is a service project to benefit Habitat for Humanity, an organization that helps build houses for those in need. The race will be held on the Congaree River today at 3 p.m. "This event was added so that the Greek community could be further unified in a common cause to raise money," Brittany Vanzant, co-chairperson of Greek Week, said. "The whole piirpose of the week this year is to unify, involve and promote a positive image of greeks as a whole." Publicity also has been emphasized to promote participation and the greek image. WIS-TV (channel 10) and WNOK (104.7 FM) covered the Greek Games. Many groups that haven't participated in the past came out for the Greek Games. The competition is meant to be friendly and fun. The week is also non-alcoholic. y "It's good to see fraternities and sororities interacting and getting along in this way," Sigma Chi member Matt Nelson said. The week is topped off with a cook-out on McBryde Quad Thursday evening. Here the winning fraternity an sorority are announced.
