The Athletic Department expec Fewer ticket * By The Associated Press I USC's move into the Southeastern Conference will shrink the number of home football tickets available for general public sales tliis season, directors of the athletic department said. The 1992 schedule includes home games against SEC foes Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Tennessee, along with non-conference games against East Carolina and Louisiana Tech. "Once we go to general public sales after Gamecock Club orders are filled, it's my opinion we will have tickets available for only four games ? Arkansas, Mississippi State, East Carolina and Louisiana Tech," John Moore, associate athletic director, said. "And those numbers will be limited. It will be tickets those schools send back to us," he said. Athletic Director King Dixon said the supply will be less for twc reasons: SEC schools are requesting more tickets and South Car* a3ddQ ami aai g=h| IBMr amiff Sv Z o 0 c: "O 2 No other fees. Exp. "Tennessee and Georgia want 15,000 tickets, and Arkansas and Mississippi want more than 5,000," Dixon said. "We're not going to be able to give them that many because of the great demand to get our fans in the stadium." Moore said the school sold more than 41,000 season tickets last year and expects anywhere from 46,000 to 49,000 orders this year. Roughly 14,000 tickets are set aside for South Carolina students. Add the visitors' allotment to the equation and suddenly the 72,400 seats in Williams-Brice Stadium are assigned. "It's a bit of a problem," Moore said. "But it's a good problem." Moore said he recently finished drafting agreements with visiting SEC schools. Georgia will receive 10,000 tickets, Tennessee 9,500, > and Arkansas and Mississippi State 5,000 each. "Thai's how many tickets those schools have to give us when we play at their places, so that's what we have allotted them to come here. "We know Georgia and Tennessee would like more and could sell more." Visitors to Williams-Brice Stadium in 1993 may be able to get all the tickets they want. Dixon said stadium expansion has been a topic of in-house discussions among school administration officials. Dixon said all parties involved in the discussions understand the need for more seats, but they must agree on how best to finance the project. Once the plan is complete, a formal proposal must be made to the school's board of trustees. "I think in all probability we won't be able to come up with something concrete until April," Dixon said. "We don't want to go to them (trustees) with half of the answers." 3 1AI11 q 311 W 11 MiD ' Ul Ill 9100 I > $15 I S $27 ; inight = c L < I < H ge - 2 minutes from USC r E D TIME OFFER TAT teach! grab your friends, find irtation and join the Blast in North Myrtle nd Strand. jrf, trendy nightclubs, itmosphere.
