Grizzard's experience with two heart surgeries and three divorces gives him a perspective that reaches everyday folks. The lights dimmed before the audience was entertained by a piano and guitar duet called the "Lewis Grizzard Trio." Musicians rocked the house with such folkrock songs as "I'd rather go back to the beach with Willie than over the bridge with Ted." a Then the best-selling author and id humorous commentator strolled on )i. the stage after being introduced i s like a heavyweight boxing champ. In his own irreverent style, he ? took potshots at Democrats, redneck foreplay and Olympic Stocks' car Racing. He didn't hide his feelings for USC as he weaved the following , tale... ("Stormin Norman" accidentally set free a genie who granted him three wishes. Schwartzkopf pulled out a map of the Middle East and asked that peace be brought to the area. The genie said "That's a tall order! I don't know if I can do ^ that! What's yer second wish?" to Schwartzkopf asked that USC's [e- football team go 11-0 and defeat or Notre Dame in a bowl game. The genie said "Lemme see that map, im again!" ia> The Grizzard Trio gave the ir_ crowd another performance with a_ Grizzard on lead vocals singing gospel hymns and songs about bittersweet childhood memories.
