"I like the atmosphere and the
way the bar is set up," senior Kim
Bregal said. "It'll be a great bar to
go to in the spring."
"Rough Draught is a 'Cheers'
type place where you can go with
a few friends, relax and have a few
beers," junior Lance Carruth said.
Of course there are always a
few people who aren't as easy to
please.
"I went there opening night because
they said they were giving
away free T-shirts, but it was only
a raffle," junior Neil McGarry
said. "The chances of winning
were astronomical!"
Several students said that Rough
Draught is simply too small to be
comfortable, but according to Cox,
the management plans to enlarge
its outside deck and add more
tables for the spring season.

Rough Draught is open from 11
a.m. to midnight Monday thru
Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Blues Traveler is touring in
support of their new album,
Travelers and Thieves, a fine if
not better example of their improvisational
style than their
self-titled debut in 1990, and
will play at the Township
tonight
Don't let the name fool you
? Blues Traveler is a bluesbased
band but only in the
sense that all modern music is
influenced by the blues. Blues
is in jazz, country, rock and
even metal guitarists rely on the ]
occasional "blue" note every ;
once in awhile. ;
Blues Traveler may not cover <
the entire spectrum of music
genres (what band could?), but
their jazz-influenced,

harmonica-wailing, blues
groove is irresistible, and owes
much to the variety of musical
interests in the band. You can
hear the allusions to Zeppelin
and the Dead, but Blues
Traveler pulls them off without
sounding cliched.
The heavy-set John Popper,
with his big lung capacity, ef
fortlessly shapes the sounds that
come from the mouth in a manner
that makes words like "genius,"
"virtuoso" and "wizard"
come to mind.
Tonight's show is likely to
have a Grateful Dead feel, with
a lot of sweaty people dancing
and having a good time. However,
Blues Traveler presents a
live sound that's far more solid
and soulful than anything the
Dead could muster.
