Whaf s hot, 1 Fashion By CHRISTY HOLLY Staff Writer Standing naked in front of the closet every morning, to my knowledge, is not an uncommon occurrence. I have known many, including myself, who do just so, debating on what to wear and hoping that their choice will meet toaay s requirements of looking "hot." Dressing according to the times is hard to do because fashions change faster than most freshmen's choice of major does. After consulting with personnel of the top department and clothing stores, a few new "in" styles and a couple of "outs" have been called to attention. As far as colors go, basic black is an all-time favorite. Magentas, periwinkles, aquas, pinks, Hound's tooth black and white prints and classic reds are also a big hit this season. h< Become a S get 3 rouiu tor only $h Only the Americar exclusively for stuc Continental Airlin Just look at t it's on your side of to fly for only $129" Mississippi for $18! American Express a: Vault g " selects 1 I Movie ; i By BRIAN SHELTON Staff Writer Well, 1991 is almost over so I guess it's time to do one of those "year in movies" retrospectives. To sum up, Silence of the Lambs, Boyz N the Hood and Rocketeer were awesome, and virtually everything else unleashed on the cineplexes -sucked. Perhaps I'm being a tad harsh. There were a few other films I liked (Hot Shots, The Doors) and a r.onnle. nf mnvip.? nn th/? wqv (Hook, The Addams Family) that look pretty impressive. For the most part though, 1991 was to cinema what Vanilla Ice is to talent and creativity. Speaking of the "Iceman," the fact that he had a role in not one but two movies should tell you just how bad the state of film was. Here is just a partial list of what I consider to be the worst films of 1991. How bad are they, you ask? If you put a little stuffing in them, they would make a real nice meal, on Thanksgiving. Terminator 2: Judgment Day: Possibly the most disappointing I movie I've ever seen. The pre\ views were awesome, and the 1 budget was astronomical (reporI tedly $100 million), yet the end reI suit was totally lame. Chevy Chase, Demi Moore and Dan Ackroyd look totally bored (or lost) for 90 unending minutes, and there are no laughs in sight. What I can't figure out is what director Ackroyd was trying to do with this film. Who told him it would make any more than three bucks at the box office, or why relatively decent rap band Digital Underground would make a cameo in this trash? I guess some questions are better left unanswered. (D-) Regarding Henry: Harrison Ford gets shot in the head and becomes a better person because of it. The fight scenes were lousy, the jokes fell flatter than Dan Quayles's head, and the villain (who, incidentally, was killed in the first film) was about as scary as my three-year-old cousin. Her wedding plans fell through, one of her movies, Dying Young, bombed and another cinematic endeavor, Sleeping with the Enemy, was carved to pieces by critics. It was still a huge hit but, in my opinion, didn't deserve to be. One can only hope that 1992's offerings will be better than this year's, but I guess that's not going to be too difficult a task.
