CABANISS Staff Writer Mark Lee should be happy his play Rebel Armies Deep into Chad has found a home at Trustus Theater on Lady Street. Lee, whose plays have been produced at the Roundhouse Theatre in Maryland and South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, CA., could hardly have wished for a harder working cast and crew. Led by director Barrett Whitener, a USC MFA candidate in Directing, the cast tells this story of two white journalists spir ltuaiiy iosi in Ainca witn Dotn precision and passion. With the minor exception of his curious staging of the scenes between Christina and Neil, Mr. Whitener directs with a firm and knowledgable hand. Among the cast, Wanda Getsug deserves praise for her committed top notch performance as Mary. Mary demands extremes of forcefulness and subtlety; Ms. Getsug finds both equally well. Marilyn Matheaus as Christina also does an excellent job.
