Sororities and fraternities from
South Carolina, Georgia and Florida
colleges will be performing after
the South Carolina State/
Florida A & M game Saturday in
the South Carolina State College
Palmetto Classic Step Show Extravaganza
at Carolina Coliseum.
Included in the extravaganza are
stepteams from USC, South Carolina
State College, the University
of Georgia at Athens, Savannah
State and Florida A & M. The
teams consist of 6 to 12 members
which will have 15 minutes to give
their best performance. They will
be judged on a scale of 1 to 5,
with five being the best.
Several award winning fraternities
and sororities are participating
in the event.
USC's Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity,
the 1990 champion, is best
known for performing blindfolded.
They are also one of the fraterni9^

"Be prepared because we've
been out for a while, but we are
back and we are better than ever,"
USC Alpha Phi Alpha President
James Webber said to the other
participating fraternities and
sororities.
Alpha Phi Alpha of South Carolina
State is also a favorite to win
the first prize and take it back to
Orangeburg. They have won
numerous awards, including the
national award, and have been
known to use special effects during
their step time.
The Delta Sigma Thetas from
the University of Georgia are
picked as favorites in the sorority
field. They have won numerous
awards for their stepping because
of their originality and the usage
of the latest dance steps, such as
the Roger Rabbit.
USC's Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
will also be participating in
the extravaganza. Ishtar Steward,
AKA president, wished her opponents
the best of luck.
To top off this exciting night, up
and coming R & B artist Damian
Dame will perform. His hits include
"F.xr.liisivitv " "Whack It on
Me," "Gotta Learn My Rhythm"
and "Don't Remind Me" off his
.self-titled debut album.
Although he is best known for
these funky hits, he is also known
for some more mellow tunes such
as "Love Come Near Me" and
"Right Down To It." Damian
