"We are a blend of different personalities, just as in America." The two Russians are both stnirk by the emphasis on money among American students. "It seems like everybody at USC works, but many of us do not," she added. Rudenko says simply, "Students at USC are more rich." Soviet students, like Americans, prize their leisure time, and spend it on similar activities. At home, Rudenko likes to lift weights and to watch boxing or hockey on television. He enjoys the outdoors and to "ramble arond the city with my girl." Here, he enjoys Five Points, even without his girl. He likes American rock music, but rock'n'roll, he said, "is dead." Diyachenko says she "likes being with my friends, reading and writing stories. I like to go to movies, which cost less at home than here.
