USC women
win Metro title
From staff reports
The 14th-ranked USC women's
tennis team captured their fifth
straight Metro Conference championship
Sunday.
The Lady Gamecocks were led
by number one singles player
Nathalie Rodriquez. The sophomore
from Rennes, France captured
the number one flight
championship with a 6-3, 6-3 win
over Florida State's number one
player, Buffy Baker.
Rodriguez was named MVP of
the tournament.
USC sophomore Michelle Duda
won the number two flight com

Wagonner 7-5, 6-1. Duda was
named to the All-Tournament
team.
The Lady Gamecocks' number
'three player, sophomore Robin
Deitch, was also named the AllTournament
team after her 6-1, 6-3
win over Virginia Tech's Leslie
Seward.
The three remaining USC singles
players were all winners.
Number four Mandy Nail defeated
Florida State's Chrissie Tee
6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Number five Carolina
Culik won her match 6-0, 6-2
and number six Monica Wiese
won her match 6-1, 6-0.
