Sports 8 The Gamecock Wednesday, April 11,1990 Cromer gets Metro honor From Staff Reports USC freshman outfielder D.T. Cromer has been named Metro Conference baseball Player of the Week. Cromer batted 16-for-24 in six games last week, a .667 pace, while raising his season batting average from .283 to .354. Cromer began the week with two doubles in four at bats Monday night against Clemson. Against The Citadel on Tuesday night, Cromer rapped three singles in six at bats as the Gamecocks rallied to edge the Bulldogs 13-12. Thursday night, at UNCCharlotte, he added a double and two singles. Cromer rounded out the week by going 8-for-10 in a three-game series with Metro opponent Cincinnati this past weekend. In the first game of the Gamecocks' doubleheader with the Bearcats on Saturday, Cromer batted 4-for-4, including his fifth home run of the season. Cromer was held to one hit in three trips to the plate in the second game, but came back with a 3-for-3 performance on Sunday. The freshman outfielder has hit safely in nine consecutive games and has at least one hit in 21 of the ? pasi games.
