B'go and m^ m* tig m By JULIE PERRY Staff Writer Take the third Saturday in March, add some sunshine and warm weather, toss in some green floats, bands, food and beverages, add a generous dose of arts, crafts and entertainment, and you have all the right ingredients for a St. Patrick's Day celebration in Five Points. The celebration in Five Points raises money for children's charity funds. This year's benefiting charities include the Adam Walsh Child Resource Center, Carolina Children's Home, Special Olympics, Camp Hope and many other organizations. Last year, more than $325,000 was donated. "Every bit of that money goes directly to the children, not to pay a secretary or a coordinator," said 1 Richard Campbell, chairman of the St. Patrick's Day Celebration in ! Five Points. i illu- /c "This money goes right to the > heart of the matter," he said, "and * we hope to raise more money than i ever this year." The parade 1 route is the same as last year ? beginning at Harden and Gervais J streets, traveling down Harden 1 Street to Blossom Street and disbanding at Green Street. With already more than 100 confirmed entries, the parade will begin at 10 a.m. and last an hour to an hour and a half. For easy viewing of the parade, , it is suggested to arrive around I' 9:15 a.m. on Blossom or Harden streets. Parking will be provided at the parking garages on Assembly Street. Drivers should be at the garages by 9:00 a.m. A shuttle, sponsored by South Carolina Electric and Gas Company and WMFX-FM 102, will provide transportation to Five Points from the garages, the Radisson, Marriott and Town House hotels. The shuttle will run between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and should pick-up every fifteen -Jf, minutes. "There is no charge for the shuttle, and we strongly recommend using it," Campbell said.
