The USC softball team swe game convincingly 17-2 and co to Georgia State for a doublehe USC falls to MSU 90-71 ; From Staff Reports Memphis State learned its lesson the last time the Tigers faced USC. In that Januarv contest at Frank McGuire Arena, the Gamecocks were sucessful in dictating a slow tempo and almost pulled off an upset ? MSU's Elliot Perry hit a 3-po inter at the buzzer to win it for the Tigers. - On Saturday, the two teams met again at Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis. The Tigers, determined from the outset to push the ball upcourt, ran away from USC, 90-71. Memphis State jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first 4:07 of the contest. They were leading by 15 with 1:54 remaining in the half, but USC went on a 6-2 run to close out the half trailing 41-31. But Memphis State would come out of the locker room ready to put the Gamecocks away before the game had a chance to go down to the wire again. The Tigers only missed one shot in the first eight minutes of the half. Memphis State outscored the Gamecocks 29-13 during the run. By the time the run was over, MSU had turned a 10-point halftime lead into a 70-41 rout. Memphis State had four players in double figures, led by Elliot Perry's 18 points. Senior Eric Sykes led the way for USC with 21 points, and Jo Jo English added 18. Freshman Chris : LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (Clark County School District) wants to interview you!
