Athletes highgradi From staff reports USC placed 106 student athletes on the 1988-'89 Metro Conference Commissioner's List, the Sports Information announced recently. The list honors participating colleges's students who have attained a 3.0 grade point average or higher uumig me aiaucimw ycai. USC's 106 student athletes are the most of any Metro Conference team. Metro member Cincinnati was second having just nine fewer than USC. The Gamecocks also had three of the 10 members who were on the list for having a perfect 4.0 average. The students who attained a 4.0 for the 1988-'89 academic year were computer science junior Carolina Culik, a member of the women's tennis team; business administration senior Mark Fryer, two-time football academic Ail-American; and political science junior Patrick Mihm, a soccer midfielder. Overall, the Metro Conference had 512 student athletes that made the Commissioner's List, a record in the six-year history of the listing. Last year, 461 names appeared on the list.
