OR CALL 777-4174 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION Currently, Off Campus Student Services is planning the Columbia Area Resident Assistant or CARA program far the 1988-1989 school year. A CARA is a student member of the OCSS staff working with a number of fellow students living off campus. CARAs report to the coordinator of Off Campus Students Services and to the Off Campus Student Services Graduate Assistants. Columbia Area Resident Assistants duties involve the following areas of responsibility: advising, counseling, administration, management and programming. CARAs live off the Carolina campus in the greater Columbia area or in surrounding towns. After their selection, the 1989-1990 CARAs will participate in a spring training session, summer orientation and pre-registration sessions, and the same training in the fall that Resident Assistants in the on campus residence halls go through. r.nrrpntlv nominations for CARA positions are be ing solicited from staff members in USC's Division of Student Affairs. However, if you are interested in applying to become a Columbia Area Resident Assistant for next year, simply drop by the Off Campus Student Office. Applications for CARA positions will be available beginning March 13, 1989. So if you like a challenge, and feel you can help Carolina's off campus population, pick up an application. Off Campus Student Services needs you, and the CARA program is an excellent way to get involved in an important new leadership program here at USC.
