They have influenced many of the musical styles associated with various new bands. Their trend-shattering behavior and dress are the heart of some of today's hippest styles. Along with their music, the personal beliefs, feelings and opinions of these artists are ever present. The only advantage that today's musicans have over these legendary performers is the fact they're living. Here is a list of music's most celebrated dead rockers: Janis Joplin ? Born and ostracized in Texas, Joplin set out to rise above her tormenters and ironically, she did it by singing the blues like no other white woman had done before. The nucleus of the Doors was known for his stage extravagance and strong, bizarre lyricism. While recording, Morrison was often at odds with concert organizers and local authorities, because of allegations of obscenties and indecent exposure ? most notably, the night he displayed his penis in Miami. The Doors had many succesful songs including "Touch Me," "The End" and "Light My Fire." Morrison died at 28 ? accidental herion overdose. Jimi Hendrix ? One of rock's most respected and copied guitarists was born in Texas and made his mark in rock music with songs like "Hey Joe," "Purple Haze" and "All Along the Watchtower" ? a song Hendrix borrowed from Bob Dylan and made his own. Lennon was 40. Of course, there are many other dead rockers worth bringing up, such as Elvis Presley, Sid Vicious, Keith Moon and Mama Cass.
