Invite Mon to Parents' By JULIA NETTLES and SUSAN NESBITT Staff writers You love them at times, hate them at times, even admire them at times. These people are the folks who brought you into this world, your very own parents. And you sure were I i * i " ? giciu 10 leave mem arier a Jong summer. But now, or sometime in the next couple of weeks, you start to miss them, maybe, just a little bit. At the very least, you miss the standard of living you maintained by not having to pay rent when you lived at home. What to do? Tell them about Parents' Weekend, and welcome them to campus Sept. 16 to 18. Show them what their hard-earned money is going for so they can sleep better at night. Start with a South Carolina Beach Party at 8 p.m. Friday. There will be music and food. And maybe if you ask really nicely, a show of how Mom and Dad used to dance. Then after a good night's rest, breakfast, sponsored by the Residence Hall Association. Of course before any game, there must be revelry, so the Student Alumni Association is throwing a pre-game tailgate party. After a long and tiring game you and your folks will want to check out the Carolina Program Union's Dessert Cabaret featuring student talent. If you want to make Mom and Dad really proud, you can strut your stuff on stage. Call CPU at 777-7130 for Cabaret information. Sunday's events include an allfaiths service, and then the folks get a chance to see the guy who runs the show, President James Holderman, at brunch. Tell Mom and Dad now so they'll be sure to keep that weekend clear on the calendar. Call Melody Hokanson at 777-5780 for more information about the activities, and then call home. Maybe if you tell them how much you miss them, they'll bring you money. 1ST xcafsiJ\Z y ? e o// 'rice <x. / Sept. 30) ]PFF \ s*color) ! ,/~" MEN 1 WAS NOW 10 7.50 an (not chop-a-lot) irry Marshals) 782-2138 Saturday f I flfELi ' GA ok For Th apitol Squ \2 02- Cans^ Regular or Light i o n ^ a racKI 3udweiser I ;g| |h?jv'9p^^^^^hm9s^ - ? hhk^ -'~v jgssj^ *1 " . spf^ il ^ v ^ ** <^x v> i "r^-? %&h .-^"??#?^mk^^-.v |?-w - ^ p n; v \ .?:> - *v_? * ? ~ * "* ?^s i? ~*;' * ?"?
