Gosselin is a sohphomorc from Kent, Washington, was one of only five players to start all 21 games for the Gamecocks in 1987. In high school, Gosselin played on ihe Washington State Select team for two years. Scott Cook, a member of the 1987 Gamecock soccer team, was selected by the Baltimore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League in June. Cook was taken in the second round and the 15th pick overall. Cook, a three-year starter for USC, was twice named to the AllSouth Region First Team and made the second team in 1987. Cook finished his three years at US(. as the fifth leading scorer in school history with 64 points. Cook scored 22 goals, provided 11 assists and 11 game winning goals during his carecr. With his selection, he became the 14th Gamecoeok under Coach Mark Berson to he drafted. Attendance The USC soccer team drew 28,053 tans during the 1987 season to place fourth in overall attendance among Division 1 schools according to Soccer America. The average attendance for the 12 home games was 2,338 per match. In 1986, 20,723 fans attended 14 home games. In the upcoming 1988 season, the Gamecocks are scheduled to play 13 home games with Clemson, Duke, N.C. State, South Alabama and Indiana slated for the "(iraveyard."
