director tor internal affairs at USC, which also announced
it would soon name an associate director for external
affairs.
Dick Bestwick, the university's new athletic director,
said the external affairs position was offered to Bobby
Foster, who now holds the title of associate athletic dircctoi
for non-academic sports.
Bestwick said the new title, which would include direc
tion of the Gamecock Club, was refused by Foster
because Foster is leaving the school for unspecified
"other career interests."
"He (Moore) is regarded as one of the leaders in college
athletic administration by his peers," Bcstwiek said. "1
look forward to expanding his duties so as to more fully
utilize his many talents."
Bcstwick, who said Moore's new assignment was in
keeping with his "philosophy of promoting from within"
the university, said in an interview with The Associated
Press he intended to have two associate athletic directors.
