Raynard Brow, Game By STACEY JOHNSON Sports reporter Raynard Brown is an important nart of I JSC's foothall tram but once the season ends. Brown doesn't hang his sneakers and expectations in a locker, he prepares for another season ? track. Brown, a sociology senior, plays football and runs track. He was born in New York, but says Greensboro, N.C.,is his home. He describes himself as an "average" student. "I was considered to be somewhat of a joker. My only interest was football," he said. Brown, who attends USC on a football grant-in-aid, said he chose USC because of all it had to offer. "It's a comfortable environment for me. Because my high school stadium was so small, I was really impressed with the facilities at USC and its first-class program." During football season, the 5-foot-5-inch Brown played wingback. He said he prefers that position because he could be a running back and a receiver at the dcuuc; nine. He said football season is more demanding than track. But with track, I practice one and a half hours a day." He said the main reason for the variation in practice time is because in football, the main concern is academics and winning percentages lor a good season. With track, you run sprints, lift weights and relax without being pressured. Brown said he enjoys football more than track. "You get to bump heads and really prove yourself. I like the glory of scoring touchdowns and hearing the fans yell." He also says people don't seem to put the same amount of energy into track. i/ivm.ii .nuvi lis. Ij'VllU.I ? When asked what USC would remember most about him he said, "My good character, and the strength and speed I have for a guy my size." Brown said he would like to play professional football, but,if that doesn't work out, "a job with law enforcement would be nice.
