She said every time a team member comes to her farm to ^ ride, he is checked on the up-keep of their 9 horse. Childers credits her riding success to lessons taken in Springfield, Va. when she was younger. She worked at stables to earn money for her lessons. "1 would ride the school bus to the stables everyday. . . I cleaned the stalls," she said. "By the time I was 15 I had saved f>ttntioh tnntwn; in Kntr ?>1\/ Aii/n hnrcn "1 couldn't afford to keep him when I left for college so I had to sell him. I missed tiding so much I joined the equestrian team." ^ Cummings said she thinks she is lucky w because she rides everyday with a friend, who lives on a horse farm in Camden. "It's the time spent on the horse that counts," she said. "I could never have come this far if I just rode once a week. I've learned some bad habits, but Mrs. Brown has helped me to correct them." USC's Equestrian team's next show is May 9.
