(|?| Since this is my last column of
the year, I'm dispensing with the
usual record reviews and instead
presenting this year's "Golden
trout Awards," which are so
dubbed tor no apparent reason.
These rather dubious honors
are not decided on by ballots that
arc counted by a prestigious accounting
firm. There arc no particular
criteria for the awards;
they basically represent the
records that showed up most frequently
on my stereo, that ir
ritated me the most or the records
I just decided to write about.
l eading off is my personal top

This doesn't really qualify as
an album (one's an extended
play, one's a single), but the two
arc good enough for two full
albums. The Australian band gets
better with each record.

Minutemen were on the verge

LP is solid throughout and stands
well as a testimony to the band.

Other "Golden Trout

Best and Worst dressed: Sigwe

Best Video: Peter Gabriel,
"Sledgehammer." No contest.
Worst Liner Notes: Boston for

Worst Song: Jess King, "A

song meant to be poignant that
comes off as tacky and very silly.
If you haven't heard it, count
your blessings.

the Raiders don't even play football
