Gamecocks miss Foster, pynpripnrp iwiiww By JEFF SHREWSBURY Sports oditor If experience is the best teacher, USC will have to learn from its lack of it. And the lack of experience certainly showed against East Carolina, Monday night, as USC lost to the Pirates 67-57. The Gamecocks shot 70 per ceni irom uic ncia in mc nrst \ half and took a four-point lead ( into the lockcroom at halftimc. But USC lost its composure in the second half shooting only 36 percent and relinquishing two eight point leads. One couldn't help but feel the Gamecocks had no leadership on ( the floor as they passed up many open jump shots and seemed to have no direction. \ "We weren't looking for the shot, we were looking for the next pass," first-year guard Terry Gould said. The flu nipcnct c ilioir season Saturday against Fckerd College with a win, 85-68, without the services of three-year letterman Michael Foster and 6-foot-9-inch John Brcckcnridge, who were suspended for season ticket sales. Foster will miss three games; Breckenridge, 17. The (JSC roster is severly lacking in depth as it only contains nine scholarship players. The Gamecocks' reserves, now thrown into a starting position, will have to get their training on the job.
