Gamecock briefs Registration for bicycles is Thursday Bicycle registration will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in Hates House, and USC safety officer Weaver Grayson recommends that students take advantage of the opportunity. "Don't let your bicycle be on someone else's guest list," he said, noting that more thefts occur during the Christmas hnlid.iv n and especially during times when students aren't on campus. "Some crooks steal by order. Someone may tell them, *1 want a blue bicycle, a Western Flyer,' or whatever." he said. Grayson suggests bicycles be secured in students' rooms while dormitories are closed for Thanksgiving from Nov. 26 to Nov. 30. "There's no activity around Bates House whatsoever, and its a tremendous area to monitor without student activity. We lose that added support when students aren't around." Computer team going to national finals USC's computer science team placed second in a regional computing competition of 28 teams last weekend. The team will move on to a national final. ^ The team, composed of David Douglas, Terry Oilman, Robert wnniic, sieve wrigni ana alternate ueveriy Huntsberger, was second in the Association for Computing Machinery Regional Qualifier's competition. The region reaches from Florida to North Carolina and from Mississippi to the Atlantic coast. The team had six hours to write program solutions to as many of nine available problems as possible. Penalty points were assessed for incorrect programs. The University of Central Florida placed first in regional, and an attempt by North Carolina State University to overtake USC in the closing seconds was unsuccessful. "A colleague of mine said their 'Hail Mary' pass was unsuccessful this time," said Terry Huntsberger, the group's adviser. : jpatagor?!&' _ mKrwimv UMUMKLfVUi ^ [940 Harden St. ?
