Probably the most unique and ?<t widely known characteristic of * the Pappy's restaurant and bar is this policy on fake I.D. cards. In the past, the owner, Pappy, has embarrassed and humiliated underaged impostors while the customers look on with amusement. The specific ritual ends with the customers' applause. Pappy said the reason he uses such a ritual is because he has to UlJl'V ABL laws or he could lose his liccnse to sell alcohol. Although Pappy's serves beer and wine, it is still open to everyone, regardless of age. "It's not a bar with food, it's more like a restaurant with beer," Pappy said. In fact, one the items Pappy's is best known for is its John Wayne burger. For the past two years. Pappy's has offered the students of USC and the rest of Columbia a "homey" and informal at IU UIJUS SONIC tOOll, drink and friendly conversation. On any given night, an assortment of customers ranging from the different factions of students to the general public can be found relaxing with a beer or grabbing a bite to eat. Pappy said "the people who come here think it's their place." He said the reason why there has never been a fight and why the "wrong crowd" stays out is because Pappy's, located at 601 Main St., is open from 10:10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday. The daily special at Pappy's is S2 for a pitcher of beer. ; jflljjjH vB h- / MpJflK v-s.
