"I hated Shakespeare when I was in school," said Stephen Jcnn, one of the visiting actors and a member of England's prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company. Jcnn and Royal Shakespeare Company peers, Julian Curry, Joseph Marcell, Lisa Harrow and Paul Whit worth, arrived in Columbia this week to launch five days of workshops and performances aimed at demystifying Shakespeare's texts for USC and area high school students. Turn-of-centur Life the way it was around the turn of the century in Columbia and at USC will be recreated in a free dramatic presentation from 7 to 9 p.m. every day until Friday on The Horseshoe. Student performers, dressed in period costumes, will act out skits of campus life as part of the university's celebration of Columbia's bicentennial. Now, Jcnn and the other actors would like to help Columbians gain a greater appreciation of Shakespeare and have a good time in the process.
