The men's team will look to rebound from Saturday's 77-65 road loss to Southern Mississippi when they host Florida State at 12 p.m. in a game regionally televised by Raycom Sports Network. Both the Gamecocks and the Scminolcs arc at the bottom ^ of the Metro standings with 1-3 conference marks. The Lady Gamecocks, 8-10 on the season, will travel to Blacksburg, Va., where they will square off against the Lady Hokics of Virginia Tech. Allen, a 6-8 junior, leads the Seminoles in rebounding with an average of 6.5 per game and is second in scoring with a 14.5 average. Guard Pee Wee Barber leads FSU in scoring at 17.4 points a game. The rest of the Seminoles' starting lineup is also averaging double figures in scoring. Raleigh Choice (12.9) is the starting center, while Jerome Fitchctt (10.1) and LaRac Davis (12.0) fill the other two positions. Linwood Moyc continues to lead USC in scoring with a 16.1 average and a field goal shooting percentage of .536. With 18 points against Southern Mississippi, Moyc extended his string of consceutivc double figure seoring performances to 13. Moyc is also third in the conference in rebounds with an 8.6 average. One of three talented seniors on the Lady Gamecock basketball team, Ballon is most often the unsung workhorse. Consistent and dependable, she has missed only one game in four seasons and leads the lady Gamecocks in minutes per game this season, sitting less than two minutes each contest. Her animated but levelheaded play has been a part of Lady Gamecock basketball for four years, during which Ballon has left her mark in the Carolina record book. Williams led three schools to NCAA postseason tournaments in his 22 years as a major college coach. However, Florida State has struggled this season after last year's losing record. imc ^cminolcs arc 7-10, and last year they compiled a 14-16 record. Williams gained prominence as head coach at Jacksonville University. While there he led the school to the finals of the NCAA tournament, losing to UCI.A. I play for them." iefs Bill Foster USC men's basketball coach Festival picks USC's Foster USC head basketball coach Bill Foster was named as the head coach for the South team at this summer's United States Olympic Festival in Houston. Foster was named to the position by the Amateur Basketball Association United States of America. The festival will serve as a training medium for prospective 1988 Olympic team hopefuls. Four regional teams will Former USC player Jimmy Powell was also named as an assistant for the Fast squad. Powell, a 1972 graduate, is head coach at American International College in Springfield, Mass. (iary Williams of Boston College will coach the Fast squad.
