Bcisiness 6 ' Wednesday, September 18, 1985 sub Uity adds service to USC mall By KATHY LEWIS Staff writer Sub City, Carolina Mall's new sub shop, adds a different dimension to campus dining services without affecting other sub shops' business, manager Robin Clark said. "I don't think we will be hurting the business of other sub shops," he said. "Because we take meal cards, it is more of an alternative to the other SAGA stores." Andy Shlon, owner of Andy's Deli, agrees. "The mall restaurants will bring more people into the area." he said. "There is enough business for everyone." Sub Station II has little business from university students, manager Peter Trickett said. "We do have a delivery service at night," he said. "If students want it delivered, they will probably call us because Sub City doesn't deliver." t\.L i ?i ouu v^iiy nas iiu pians iu deliver, although it may be a possibility in the future, Clark said. The new sub shop is no threat to Subway because most of Subway's business comes from the morrhanK af Fivp Pnint? saiH manager Abdo Maroun. Having a mall on campus is a good idea, according to Maroun. "I don't think it will affect us at all, so why not?" he said. The idea of a mall appeals also to Adrienne Shinta, Carolina Styles manager. "I used to be a student here, and I think it's a good idea," she said. Carolina Styles, located on the ground level of Russell House, opened on campus in 1975. Cut-Ups is not competing with Carolina Styles, owner Mark Gillespie said. "There are plenty of students to go around." Each business has different retail products, according to Gillespie. Evelyn Mullis, Sweet Expressions manager, agrees. "I think the mall is a good idea because most students don't drive," she said.
