As the weather begins to cool and vacations come to an end, the three major television networks are attempting to seduce the general public into slick new programs and seemingly entertaining fare. Bright spots are few and far between. Though not classic productions, "Murder, She Wrote", "The Cosby Show" and < "Miami Vice" are at least feeble attempts at entertainment. : THE OUTLOOK soon turns excessively grim as one skims the new programs that are being offered. NBC, known for its quality programming and daring concepts, seems to be taking a giant step backwards this season. Leading the list is the undeniably ridiculous "Partners In Crime." The teaming of the brainless Loni Anderson with "Wonder Woman" alumna Lynda Carter is surely a nightmarish duo. Acting abilities are absent, while scripts offer little more than a sexist parody on the superior "Cagney And Lacey."Partners In Crime" is exploitive sleaze. In lieu of its excessive violence and Fred Dryer's attempt to be the Dirty Harry of television, "Hunter" is brutal entertainment. ABC continues its reputation as the network with the'least class. How long can the stale teaming of Tony Franciosa and Deborah Adair continue to find missing loved ones? John Ritter has just received an Emmy award for his Jack Tripper role in the now defunct "Three's Company." 1 "Three's A Crowd" is a toned down sequel that manages to 1 be quite boring. Ritter's Jack has found the girl of his dreams (Mary Cadorette), but her father is infuriated by their live-in situation. BKRT CONVY hosts "People Do The Craziest Things," but watching people making fools of themselves is hardly funny. 1 "Hawaiian Heat" is a direct and poor imitation of the popular but glossy "Simon And Simon." Lindsey Wagner, the former Bionic Woman , is dreary as police psychologist "Jessie." Rounding out ABC's new schedule is another primetime soap opera. CBS has the least new offerings, simply because it already has a successful lineup. "Cover Up" offers Jon Hexum and Jennifer O'Neill as a male model and photographer who solve ciimes. Does anyone on television do anything but unravel the crimes of othersThough not aired at press time, "Charles In Charge" and "Dreams" hardly need to be anticipated. The latter presents former "General Hospital" heart-throb John Stamos as the leader of a rock band determined to achieve sucess a la MTV. The former gives Scott Baio a new prime time chance as Charles, a live-in babvsitter. These two shows face stiff com petition and seem aimed at a young and unintelligent audience. The three networks have spent countless dollars in production and promotion for a basically terrible selection. This season's batch of brand new programming is cause enough to turn the television off on a permenant basis. 1N??d a ride somewhere?
