MISSING FROM the screen since 1981's "Tarzan, The Ape Man," Bo Derek and her husband John have gone beyond feasible i entertainment and good taste. i Produced by Bo, and written, directed and photographed by her husband, "Bolero" is I 4 pure trash at best. In the laughable title role, Bo proves once again that her acting abilities are akin to an | inanimate object. Ayre, her character, has I just completed finishing school in 1920s i England and wants to erase the word "virgin" from her resume. The audience is then harshly exposed to Ayre's search for sex. I 1 1 I ALONG K)R the ride ? so to speak ? i I are her chauffeur Cotton (George Kennedy) | and her Spanish schoolmate Catalina (Ana Obregon). These extremely uninteresting ? characters force Bo to control the spotlight, < which is a serious mistake. i Ayre's search leads her to Spain and into > the arms of a bullfighter, played by Andrea | Occhipinti. Things seem to flow easily for Ayrc until a bull puts an end to her lover's j sexual capabilities. ( i ~ READ 11 ^avire CDE rnc DOUBLE C That's rinht FRF w mm w. PAST TREASURES such as 4410" and 14Tarzan" have made it quite clear that the Derek couple lacks talent. And what is lacking in talent is made up for with constant nudity and self-admiration on Bo's part. 44Bolero" is without a rating after almost being placed in the tabooed X-rated area. The creators of this film obviously feel that pornography makes for a quality film. THOUGH STAGED in the 1920s, "Bolero" gives only vague reference to this fact. In pants and sporting an unmistakable Farrah hair style; Bo seems much too modern in fashion and desires. Also confusing is locale. Much of "Bolero" takes place in Spain, but scenes md accents change as rapidly as Bo's :lothing. Also unintentionally hilarious is the sweepng musical score from Elmer Bernstein, vhich seems better suited for a Walt Disney amily drama. "Bolero," in all of its hilarious glory and rseudo-quality, will disgust anyone who iares to see it. ^TheH tcock C I HEF.SE E DOUBLE is.
