Percussion, saxc By Janifer Youmans Anyone who missed Shadowfax's perfor- T mance Wednesday night missed an entertain- w : :~U. I, Illg Ulglll Ul Jrttt. ic Percussion, saxaphones, and Asian in- t< struments were the highlights of the evening, while about 200 listeners prepared for a night o at the Golden Spur they'd never forget. ]i Shadowfax's first son, "Shadowdance," o could have been played all night. Violins and d electric guitars had everyone shaking their tl heads. Instrumental talent was everywhere. ii "SHADOWDANCE" LED into "Va- ti jia," which gave an impression of being on S an African safari, or on an oriental coast. s Stevie Wonder's "Secret Life of Plants" si would be the closest comparison to it. c The next song, entitled "Watercourse Way,'' was slower paced than c "Shadowdance." It sounded like two songs p also from Wonders Plants, called z "Flower" and "The Venus Flytrap Song," e the latter which is instrumental. In "Arinki," Shadowfax uses sound effects of birds chirping. This song, which gave an C impression of being in Africa's jungles, was C closer to reggae sound. Chuck Greenberg us- F ed brass instruments to give the song a brighter c touch. g "A Song For My Brother" moved from a a slow to a fast pace. An oriental influence was definitely contributed throughout the c beautiful flow of music. The audience was f overwhelmed. No individual could clap or I pat nis reet in time wun tne song, he could F only sit still and let the music flow through f his body. c rThe Golden Spur an< present The Loca TAMirUT I- WIVIVI f t Live at The Spur IB yj/ 9;00 P - ? "New Electric India" gave an impression >f bamboos, turbans and brass jewelry opular in the Indian culture. Jamii Szmadinski played the violin with pride and njoyment. "BROWN RICE," written by Don r rherry, was the final mood-flowing song. ; j.E. Stinson repeatedly whispered "Brown Uce," while Greenberg played the sax- I phone. Stinson then played his electric ? ;uitar, which added extra sounds to the song is spices are added to brown rice. The violins, played by Szmadzinski and ^ Irums played by Stuart Nevitt, could not be | orgotten nor could Phil Maggini on bass, )avid Lewis on keyboards or F.d Mann on . >ercussions.
