Carolina's J From Staff Reports Sophomore * Lady Gamecock Brantley Southers has been officially invited to tryout for the U.S. women's Olympic basketball team. Southers. a 6-0 forward from Columbia. was chosen to participate in the trials to be held April 20-24 at the Olympic training site in Colorado Springs, Colo. "I have to play my way onto the team," Southers said. "There are one to two spots that are open, and I have to play well tc make them. "I think anyone would like to represem their country." THE NEW York Mets baseball organiza tion will hold a tryout camp June 23 a Capital City Park for players aged 16-23 wit! an interest in a professional career. The one-mile fun run will be held in conjunction with a two-mile and 10,000-meter road race. The races are certified by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness along with the S.C. Road Race Federation. l ne events are divided into age divisions starting at age 17 and under, with awards going to the first men and women finishers in the Fun Fare Run and the first three men and women finishers in each age division in the two-mile and 10,000-meter races.
