Linda Sal&ne of the University Career Center Placement Office compared job applications of more than 300 students competing for interviews with 53 companies to find out what potential employers were looking for. She said she found no significant difference in grade point ratios of students who were selected and students who were not selected for interviews. In fact, many students who did not have related work experience and were not selected had some of the highest grade point ratios, ? "the 3.5s and the 3.8s," Salane said. PERHAPS PART of the reason for this is that non-working students have more time to devote to studies, she said.
