Area restaurants different foods, By Margarita Pate tating out in ine greater ^ oiumoia area is one of those necessities of life for students at the university, along with knowing a little about some of the restaurants in the Five Points area and its vicinity. One restaurant that has been around for several years now is Yesterday's. This restaurant has a loyal clientele that frequents not only the dining room, but the quaint little bar on the other side of the partition. Yesterday's has a casual, laid-back at mosphere. The dress, consequently, is casual. No reservations are neccessary, although during the lunch hour it gets crowded. If the cater only has an hour to eat and get back, he might be better off going somewhere else. THE MENU is a little limited, but it features well rounded meals with plenty of vegetables. Another restaurant in the Five Points area is The Parthenon. This Greek restaurant features one of the best pizzas in town. The atmosphere is relaxed. No reservations are neccessary, and the service is very fast. The Greek specialties are wonderful. These authentic dishes are a welcome introduction to most palates. If you want to eat something good and a little different try The Parthenon. A pizza parlor is always a safe place to go to. The Villa on Harden Street has been at that location for many years and is a typical pizza restaurant. The menu offers other Italian dishes, but they aren t as satisfying as the pizzas. The salads are good with plenty of black olives and other condiments. THE LOFT Oyster Bar and Restaurant is a relatively new addition to the Five Points estaurant entourage. More than half of the menu consists of seafood items. Reservations are recommended, especially at the peak dinner hours. The bar upstairs is quiet and a good place to go to have a drink with friends and talk without getting laryngitis from yelling over the music. A place close to the Loft Oyster Bar and Restaurant is Goat Feathers. This interestingly different little place is not a restaurant, but a dessert place. An extensive menu highlights numerous imported beers, cigarettes and a variety of delicious desserts. The Chocolate Bombe is divine. THIS LITTLE after-dinner spot also features a large collection of magazines from all over the world. Somewhat expensive, Goat Feathers is still a nice place to go after dinner. Not to overlook the place everyone has been to, even though it's not in Five Points. The Big Bird on Main Street is an institution near campus. A nice quiet place to watch TV, do homework or play video games, The Big n:-J ? i i i i diiu li a iiumey kiiiu 01 piace. The grill features hamburgers, sandwiches, barbecue and various other lunchtime foods. The french fries are always hot and well :ooked. Fried chicken is another favorite. On the buffet iine, one finds vegetables, meats, coleslaw, rolls and anything anyone ;ver wanted to eat for a small sum. The place is always clean, and the people who work :here are very friendly. This is definitely a :ome-as-you-are restaurant. Close to the university campus are many fast food restaurants that cater to the 10-minute-lunch crowds. But sometimes, when there is more than 10 minutes to eat or if it's dinner time, one might try some of the various restaurants near campus. i 777-4249 1 During February, get of delicious Chicken 1 large order of golden a large soft drink for Only at McDonald's Street and only for s coupon necessary. ?il $1.9 L ' Offer expires Februg 'S 4 )nm ^ i? m "\/ McVonaidk & you. - I ! , All Carolina students 30 years old (or less) are invited to join J\Ts\ /in acf ]\Js\ nrni/Vn diif>^ 1 V 1/ f lie CI i ww i J. ww vi.?.->.v/v^?
