Parents compla about 'care pa( By Ann Farmer USC is being blamed for something that is not its fault. Parents who ordered exam-time "care packages" for their children from what they believed to be a university organization have complained to USC officials because the packages were never delivered. USC has received between five and 10 complaints about the Student Rescue Committee, Dennis Pruitt, dean of Student Affairs, said yesterday. Parents received a letter from the committee late last semester advertising a care package containing nuts, cheese and other snacks for $10 to $15. The letter especially appealed to parents of freshmen, who would be taking their first exams, Pruitt said. Because of the pre-paid postage on the reply envelope and the wording of the letter, many parents believed the committee was affiliated with the university although the university was not involved, he said. "The week before Christmas we heard from some parents of students who didn't receive packages," Pruitt said. "They were disenchanted with the university; they thought the university hadn't delivered (the packages)."
