From Staff Reports
Victor Herbert's "Babes in Toyland," a
musical intended for all ages, is the holiday
season offering at West Columbia's Act 1
Theatre.
Written in 1903, the play brings to life
memorable characters along the lines of
Mother Goose structure.
The plot centers on a villain who tries to
profit by releasing all of the world's evil. The
evil is stuffed in a box hidden away in fictional
Toyland by a toymaker who wants only
good for children everywhere.

Sharing the double bill was Walsh, former- 1
ly of The Eagles, which recently disbanded.
Opening with "In the City," Walsh was an
immediate crowd-pleaser with his disoriented t
stage presence and hard-driving attitude. 1
"All Night Long" and "Life's Been Good"
brought out the rowdiness in the audience, as

hit, "Space Age Whiz Kids." s
While the differences between Walsh and /
Nicks were obvious, both offered a pleasant c
blend for a memorable evening.
