"The course was fairly difficult, but that wasn't the reason we played so badly." Sandy Persinger led the Lady Gamecocks with a score of 82-79-81 ? 242. Kelly Brannon shot an 87-84-82 ? 253, and Beth Ward had an 86-85-86 ? 262 to give the Lady Gamecocks a 1,274 total. Noonan said weight training and exercising for the spring season will start after Christmas vacation. "How much outside work we do will depend on the weather," she said. According to Mary Nole, intramural graduate assistant, the festival is one of many Poolnighters to come in the future. "We hope to get McDonalds to sponsor it on an annual basis," Nole said. "With an outside sponsor, we're able to do things that we normally wouldn't be able to do, like the Poolnighter." Nole said the event is a non-competitive one designed to allow students "to have fun." Teams or organizations who bring 10 or more to the festival will receive 50 intramural participation points. The idea from the event came from former USC intramural director Eric Stein, who wanted to see a sporting festival similar to the Sportnighter held every February, according to Nole. The festival, which will last from 6 to 10 p.m., will include innertube races, a "big splash" contest, an obstacle course, pyramid building, a T-shirt exchange and a diving for dollars contest, all within the confines of the natatorium. Nole said prizes and grand prizes will be offered throughout the evening. Students do not need to preregister or pay any entry fees for the event. Nole said the only requirement is tor students to bring their identification to be admitted to the P.E. Center. The P.E. Center provides lockers and towels to students using the natatorium for a quarter. ? - 1 * DON? u're Needed L IB _ uiuverme World. volunteers why their ingenuity and flexibility Hr degrees.
