Mortar Board sells calendc From Staff Reports , USC's Mortar Board Chapter has reached the half-way point in its effort to help a scholarship fund. Mortar Board calendars, which are S3 each, are being provided as a service to Carolina students.The profits from the calendar sales will be put into a graduate student scholarship fund, Mortar Board President Florence Nofal said. Clearing $1 on each book, the honor society will be able to donate $5,000 to the scholarship fund if all the books are sold, Nofal said. Thus far, 2,500 calendars have been sold, she said. The Mortar Board calendars contain day-by-day schedules of important academic dates, intramural activities and deadlines, Greek affairs, and other licensed organizations' activities. Some members of USC's chapter attended the national Mortar Board conference last year and learned of Purdue University's success in selling appointment calendars. Mortar Board members are hoping that Carolina students will like the books as well, Nofal said.
