expected to be at 100 percent when USC
begins its fall practice on October 15.
Matt Mayes, a 6-3 freshman guard from
Woodberry, Va., Forest Prep School
developed "jumper's knee," or a softening
of the tendons. Mayes, who had been inactive
since the injury, was given permission
yesterday from a doctor to begin light
running.
THE USC sailing team placed third in the
South Points Regatta, held on Sept. 16 in
Charleston.
Light winds postponed the races until
noon, and that afternoon the teams finished
six races with moderate winds from the
north.
The College of Charleston won the regatta,
while the Citadel finished second. Clemson
and Georgia Tech finished fourth and
fifth, respectively, behind USC.
Sailing for USC's A Division were Terri
Appleby, Liz Canniff, Robert Faulkner, and
Jessica Story. Sailing for the B Division
sailors were Kistian Andreasen, Max Fulda,
and Harry Weimon.
