Appropriately, Up With People kicked off the concert with a brief slide show of people and places from around the world, and a tune entitled "Just People." Together with the following number, "Someone Else's Eyes," the song spoke engagingly of alleviating racial tension. MUCH OF the nerformance. however, did not deal directlv with such ideals. The longest portion of the program's first half was a pair of medlies, one featuring music of the 1920s, and the other a retrospect of the music of the 1960s. The first medley, entitled "Uncle Victor and Auntie Ola," contained old standards such as "In the Good Ole Summertime" and "Has Anybody Seen My Gal?" A collection of Beatles songs was featured in the medley, but the delivery was not up to the show's par, particularly when compared to the excellent Motown classics performed. "Shape It Up" was by far the most enthusiastic number of the concert. As the title suggests, it concerned physical fitness, and several sweatsuited cast members went into the audience to entice people to join them onstage. MANUEL VILLALVA gave the best individual effort of the evening, as he gently sang a moving tune called "What Color Is God's Skin?"
