'mm. USC's Trevor Raal races for a return s yesterday 8-1 to raise their record to 5-0 Tennis Stadium. Injuries plague By Jeff Rogers Injuries have plagued USC's men's tennis team this season as they did last season^ but Head Tennis Coach - Ron Smarr said he hopes to see his team improve last year's 22-7 finish. Two of the team's top three players were injured before last year's season started. This year, Smarr lost junior Ricardo Acioly in the fall, when Acioly tore ligaments in his knee in the quarterfinals of the Milwaukee Classic. Acioly, a two-time Junior College All-American at Tyler (Texas) Junior College, had advanced to the finals of the Southern Intercollegiate Tennis Championships and was expected to contribute heavily to the team as the No. 1 seed, according to Smarr. "I thought before Acioly got hurt, we had a shot at the top 20," Smarr said. "He (Acioly) is one of the top 16 players in the country and one of the ^ best in the world in his age group (18).
